Farley Printing Company 10 - Hurricanes 14
Farley Printing squandered a lead once again losing to one of the worst teams in the division. FPC has an extraordinary ability to play up or down to the level of competition and is now experiencing it's annual mid season slump. While the defense has been solid - giving up only 11.0 points per game - the offense has been displaying it's Jekyl and Hyde persona. One week the offense is terrible and the next week it's...well below average.
On the opening drive The Dutchman took FPC down the field and hit CComps on a crossing route for a 7-0 lead. When the defense held on the next Hurricane possession, things were looking good. Unfortunately, The Dutchman had exhausted all of his offensive brilliance in the first drive.
To speed things up a bit:
FPC: drive ends in a turnover on downs.
Hurricanes: Score on blown coverage (miscommunication between MPJIII and Johnny Meatballs - Geo where were you?)
FPC: drive stalls and Mitts kicks a field goal to end the half.
2nd half
FPC: turnover on downs
Hurricanes: drive ends in Mitts interception
FPC: turnover on downs(sensing the pattern?)
Hurricanes: turnover on downs
FPC: punt
Hurricanes: 14 yard TD score (Geo where were you?)
FPC: turnover(interception)
For those of you counting at home, that's 7 possessions resulting in one TD, one FG, one punt and 4 turnovers. Folks, I don't care if they bring The Burns out of retirement to anchor the D. If you can't score you can't win. And when you're averaging 16.5 points per game - you won't win much.
Somewhere Boschee just started warming up.
