| Farley Printing Company 13 - Man Up 0
There are days when a quarterback can take a team on his shoulders and carry them to victory. And there are days when after early struggles, a quarterback will rally the team around him and somehow pull out the win. For the FPC football team, last Saturday was neither one of those days.
Despite a second straight 2 INT game by their QB, The FPC defense was too much for Man Up. With 2 sacks, 3 interceptions, 1 forced punt and numerous turnovers on downs, Mitts, Meatballs and Co. never let the game get close. However, continuing struggles in the red zone, questionable play calling and a simply abysmal game by fading QB The Dutchman prevented the game from blowing open. Feaster and Boscheezy were all but invisible on offense and had you not heard him boasting of his hammer rankings, you would have thought that the Burns left at halftime. One bright note of the day was the return of Shawn Ranuhdelli, who brought his PSHs back with him catching the games only TD pass. Delli brings a tall slow target with good hands and solid route running ability. And while there is no shortage of tall, slow receivers on FPC, there is a short supply of PSHs. Suffice to say, Delli's return does not bode well for the hammer point rankings of the other two of the triple towers.
The Big Angry continued his impressive comeback with the TD pass to Delli and a 45 yard scramble down to the 5. He was kind enough to toss the ball back to the Dutchman at the 5 yard line to permit his troubled QB to score some points.
"Dude, I mean, dude, I was lousy today. I mean really lousy. Loooowwww - Zeeeeee!" The Dutchman said after the the game. "But I'll be better next week. You'll see. I'll be laying it up all week, and when I get our there on Sadurdee, it'll be just like Neil Lomax...Wahhoooo! Lick 'em."
It did not appear that team manager Mitts was as enthusiastic about a return to prominence for the struggling QB. "They call him Cap'n Stupid for a reason," Mitts said. "Kid's got no focus. I think the guys will be calling him Smashed Face if something doesn't change."
But the real story here was the defense. Meatballs Myura picked off his second INT of the season and for the first time three years someone other than veteran safety Lil Mitts leads the team in picks. L Train's return has been swifter than many thought as he now stands 3 sacks short of the single season record of 10 with 7 games to go. Throw in interceptions by both corners and the defensive play was near perfect. JoKer had an interception to end the game and Geo was sideline to sideline all day, missing no flags and intercepting one pass. Not to be overlooked is the addition of CComps to the defense. After leading the team in tackles for the second straight game most fans have already forgetten displaced MLB The Burns.
FPC faces a Mulrooney's team that defeated them 32-15 last year in what should be the first challenge of the season.
