Farley Printing Company 40 - Waterboys 21

Farley Printing rolled to another easy victory on Saturday pushing their record to 3-1 over the last month. While the fans in a half empty Marbrook Financial Field wondered if the Dutchman had slipped out and gone 7A, Chris Comps continued to guide the offense up and down the field while racking up the Hammer Points. Behind an impressive five touchdown day(3 passing, 2 running) he vaulted up to take the Hammer lead with one game to go in the regular season.

Both teams exchanged TDs early as FPC scored on two of its first three play from scrimmage. Lil Mitts adjusted to bring in a Chris Comps pass on the second play of the game and then scampered down the field for the first TD. Comps then ran in for a score on the next play from scrimmage. Unfortunately, FPC's revamped Burnsless defense was looking quite Burnsful as it was unable to stop the unorthodox option offense of the Waterboys. The game was tied at 21 at the half. Defensive coordinator Shawn Randall then made a key adjustment - one that set the tone for the 2nd half.

FPC began lining up two men at middle linebacker and the Waterboys came out confused. With the option shut down they were forced to go to the air. On a deep ball early in the second half Lil Mitts came up with the first of what would be a record setting 3 interceptions on the day. CComps then drove the offense down the field for the easy score and a 28-21 lead. The defense then took over as the Waterboys were unable to move the ball any father. The FPC offense continued unhindered. A renewed Ranuhdelli came out out of nowhere to haul in two TDs - highstepping into the endzone both times to the delight of Delli's Demons. Ranuhdelli's fan club has had to sit quietly for most of the season with little to cheer for. It is safe to say Delli's showmansip was appreciated. The little guys in their blue and green body paint seemed pretty fired up.

And Creme C Hewes looked off 8 different receivers before settling on NewGuy Kerr for his TD strike. As is always the sign when FPC plays well, there were no turnovers and lots of little mitts. Unfortunately there were also some little hooves as kicker Mitts missed the last two extra point attempts causing a cascade of boos throughout Marbrook Financial Field.

FPC now stands at 3-3 in position to finish with a winning record for the first time in a few seasons. It will be interesting to see how the team lines up next week when The Dutchman returns from injured reserve. A fan favorite for his duct taped shoes and no frills black #11 jersey, he has had to sit on the sidelines while the veteran CComps has rung up the big points. But fans are fickle.

A girl in the stands had a sign that said it all. "Kill The Dutchman!" the sign said.

Needless to say she was removed from the premesis and may have had a few issues that didn't have much to do with football. But The Dutchman was rattled nonetheless.

She must have been a CComps fan
