Farley Printing Company 35 - The Regulators 12

Farley Printing jumped back into the thick of the playoff race with a solid win over a suprised Regulators squad. And while superstar QB Darren "The Dutchman" Brodie's current hand injury will quiet the QB controversy for the upcoming game, it is nonetheless hanging out there. Cagey veteran, and all time Hammer Point leader Chris Componovo took over for an injured Dutchman at halftime and rallied the team from a tenous 7-6 lead to an impressive 35-12 victory. While much of this will still be attributed to the rebirth of a Burnsless defense, the offensive explosion cannot be discounted.

The game started out as usual. The defense held, forcing The Regulators to punt. In the first offensive series, Larry "Creme C" Hewes, fresh off a trip to Atlantic City and 2 hours sleep, threw the game's first and only interception. Defense played the predominant role for most of the half, as both offenses sputtered. The Regulators scored late in the first half to open up the game but were unable to convert the extra point. It was then that the Farley team came alive. Again the Farley Printing scissor kick return caught an opponent off guard as Hewes and Farley combined on the return to bring the ball down to the opposing 35 yard line. The Dutchman then came on to the field to finish the job. Two plays later he hit Chris Comps in stride for a 35 yard TD pass and a 7-6 halftime lead. Unfortunately, the Dutchman injured his hand on the throw and was unable to continue at QB.

Chris Comps took the helm for the 2nd half and did not disappoint. Seizing on the opportunity to play QB for the first time since The Dutchman replaced him after his injury, Comps exploded in the the second half running for two TDs and throwing for one more - accounting for 75% of the 2nd half offense. Joe "New Guy" Kerr hauled in one TD and The Dutchman, not to be forgotten, brought down a Creme C bomb late in the half to seal the victory. The Regulators did scored a late TD but again failed to convert. For the second straight game the defense held the opposing team to under 14 points.

As the offense piled up, so did the Hammer stats. New Guy still has the lead based on an impressive sack resume, but the veteran, CComps, has begun his annual hammer ranking assault. Last year's winner Angry Chris Boscheezy, is nowhere in sight. Creme C's turnovers are keeping his stats down and The Dutchman's injury may take him out of the running. Lastly, you've always got to keep an eye on the kickers with little mitts. They seem to sneak in there.
