Farley Printing Company 28 - Gildea's Raiders 18
1 touchdown pass and 7 interceptions over the previous 4 games for The Dutchman and The Big Angry...No one liked hearing that. So they did what any self respecting man and woman would do - they vindicated themselves. Combined, they put up two 2 rushing TDs, 2 passing TDs and one receiving TD as FPC rolled over the Raiders in a game that was not nearly as close as the score implied. It's about freaking time.
The Dutchman, as is his tendency, is returning to form towards the end of the season. He threw for 2 TDs and ran for one more. One year this guy is going to come out ready to play week 1 and FPC is going to get off to a quick start. OK, no he isn't. Anyway...
FPC scored on the first drive of the game. They moved the ball easily down field only to be pushed back off the goal line by a unsportsmanlike conduct call. You can guess who it was against. But The Dutchman, fresh off a night with the thickest of the thick at the Logan House, settled everyone down with a quick strike to Randelli and a hand off to Big Angry who outraced the defender to the corner of the endzone for the first score.
On defense FPC was a bit lackluster letting the Raiders score without putting up much of a fight. But they were able to stop the PAT and maintained a 7-6 lead.
On the first play from scrimmage on the ensuing drive Dutchman hit Geo over the middle who then pitched the ball to the BA who brought it in 45 yards for the score. It should be noted that had the endzone been 47 and not 45 yards away there is a good chance Big Angry's left knee may have simply blown off. As it was, he had 45 yards in the tank and stumbled in.
FPC was a little stiffer on defense on the next time but after Geo gambled on an interception and missed, it was left for MPJ3 to make a diving flag on the 5 to save the score. Arguably, it was the best flag of the season. Regardless the Raiders scored a few plays later but were thwarted going for two after FPC blitzed two men and Mitts got his little pig hooves on the ball and knocked it down.
Halftime FPC 14 - GR 12.
FPC made a defensive adjustment to open the second half and it paid dividends as Feaster batted a pass up in the air that The Dutchman fell on. It was a little bit of Karma for The Dutchman who had batted one up in the air a game earlier for Mitts to pick off. A few plays later The Dutchman bumbled, stumbled and rumbled his way into the endzone.
On the next drive MPJ3 came up with is 2nd INT of the season and The Dutchman would later find Delli in the endzone for his first score. It was one of a number of catches for the erstwhile center who is returning to form and bringing his p-soft hands with him.
Gildea's added a final TD late in the game to close the score to 10 points on a play that the Dutchman and Mitts are still confused about.
But is appears that the offense may be back as 28 points was the most point FPC has put up all season.
