Farley Printing Company 14 - State Property 13

Farley Printing And State Property have squared off twice. Both times State Property has walked away confused and bewildered trying to figure out just how that goofy, blond haired, slow as molasses QB scored on them.

And again, FPC was left wondering just when those guys are going to figure out they could use a kicker.

In a game dominated by the wind more than anything else, Farley Printing got their first win of the season behind two rushing TDs by the Dutchman and by interceptions by Mitts and Marcus P. Jennings III. Mitts also hoofed in two PATs to seal the victory.

State Property scored first and then converted the PAT to take a 7-0 lead. Playing into a wind that made throwing the ball almost impossible, FPC was then held on downs. After a booming 9 yard punt by The Big Angry they the defense clamped down and was able to hold State Property on downs. FPC then began a drive with its version of smash mouth flag football. Rarely taking more then 4 yards play, The Dutchman drove them down the field in a mind numbing 6 minute drive. Unfortunately he was hit at the 20 while throwing and the floater that came out of it was intercepted. The Big Angry was able to run down the play and pull the flag on FPCs own 30 yard line. That defensive play became even more important when Lil Mitts intercepted the the ball two plays later to end the half.

In the second half FPC had the wind going for them which enabled The Dutchman to open up the aerial assault. With Koy Detmer-like precision he marched FPC down the field and tied the game at 7-7 with a bowlegged, ball extended in front of him TD run that defied physics. State Property later scored after a long run brought the ball down inside the FPC twenty, but they were held while trying to run in the PAT.

FPC then began another 5 minute drive capped of by a second Dutchman TD run that was even more baffling. If anything can be said of the Dutchman's running style, it is that it might be too slow for State Property. Chased by defenders twice his speed, they went in front and behind and almost encircled him. For reasons only known to the Dutchman himself, he was able to break through for his second TD of the game. Mitts showed State Property what happens when you kick the PAT and FPC took a 14-13 lead.

With 5 plays left, all that was needed was a good flag by Geo to push State Property back to their own 40 and then a nice interception my MPJ3 to seal the game. It should be noted that the interception came after Lil Mitts and MPJ3 huddled to plan some defensive strategery.
