Farley Printing Company 7 - Gamblers 21

Farley Printing opened up the season in spectacular fashion losing 21-7 to the defending champion Gamblers. It was much the same story for the beleaguered frachise, solid defense, lousy offense. There was plenty of blame go around - all the way around and squarely on the shoulders of The Dutchman.

Joe Kerr recorded the first TD of the season on an up for grabs throw by The Dutchman late in the first half. It would be Farley Printing's only score of the day and it came after a 65 yard kick return by the Big Angry and Lil Mitts.

The defense played well enough to win, recording one interception(Feaster) and holding The Gamblers on downs a number of occasions. Unfortunately, it was not enough to cover for The Dutchman who took the FPC offense under his wing and promptly ran it right into the wet sloppy ground that was Marbrook field...literally.

The Dutchman finished the day 7-29 with 1TD and 2INTs for a QB rating of 43.8. It was one of the worst QB performances since the ill-advised J-Bone experiment of the late nineties. Clearly confused by the playbook(which he created) and unsure of his audibles(which he was calling), the Dutchman was lucky to have only thrown two interceptions. Were it not for some excellent defensive play by his receivers and some dropped balls by defenders, it could have been much worse.

After the game The Dutchman generously took the blame for his performance saying, "somebody has got to get open, and those plays suck!" When reminded that he created the playbook and that the Gambler defenders were mocking the FPC receivers by not covering them, he stood firm. "There ain't no 'I' in team."

Well, there ain't no "we" either.
